Cleaner, Greener Up Holland Volunteers Hit the Ground Running
The newly formed Cleaner, Greener Up Holland group of volunteers has truly hit the ground running, completing a major spring clean across the parish and already making a visible difference to our local environment.

Their latest meet-up, held on St Patrick’s Day, took place in bright spring sunshine and proved to be an enjoyable and healthy way for residents to come together while caring for the village. Volunteers of all ages turned out to lend a hand, helping to tidy streets, green spaces and public areas.
Village Ward Parish Councillor Gillian Sinnott spearheaded the initiative with the aim of bringing the community together through positive action, encouraging civic pride and shared responsibility for the places we all enjoy.
A particularly welcome addition to the group was the involvement last week of children from the Eco Council at St Thomas’ Primary School, who joined in with enthusiasm and demonstrated that caring for our environment is a value shared across generations.
The group’s efforts have not been limited to litter picking. Volunteers have also been carrying out gardening work that has already made a noticeable improvement to several public spaces around the parish.
A huge thank you goes to everyone who has taken part so far and helped make the project such a success. The group extends an open invitation to anyone who would like to get involved in future sessions. If you’d like to join in, please get in touch via email to find out more.
At a time when principal councils simply do not have the budgets to carry out this kind of work, initiatives like Cleaner, Greener Up Holland show what can be achieved when communities come together. Thanks to the dedication of local volunteers, Up Holland is becoming cleaner, greener and something we can all be proud of.
