Friday 13th – Not So Unlucky!

Despite the traditional reputation of Friday 13th being unlucky, the day proved to be anything but. The Eco Council pupils were superb in recognising how important it is to care for this much-loved local space. These enthusiastic Year 6 learners are truly custodians of our future and take great pride in looking after the play area, helping to keep it clean, safe and welcoming for everyone.
Working through both rain and sunshine, the pupils carefully collected litter that others had carelessly discarded. Activities like this not only improve the environment but also help reinforce an important lesson — if you help pick up litter, you are far less likely to drop it yourself.
It was a joyful and positive day for everyone involved, demonstrating the power of community spirit and the difference young people can make when they take pride in their local area.
Up Holland Parish Council would like to extend sincere thanks to the Headteacher Mr Carl Roscoe and staff at St Thomas the Martyr Primary School for supporting the Eco Council and encouraging such strong environmental awareness among their pupils. Their enthusiasm and hard work were truly inspiring.
